To be honest, there are so many unique places to go bungy jumping in New Zealand that we found it impossible to refine it down to just one. So we've narrowed it down to our top 4 based on your adventure-seeking preferences:

Nevis Canyon Bungy, Central Otago

The Highest Bungee Jump: Nevis River

If you aren't afraid of heights, why not head straight for the highest bungy jump in New Zealand? The adventure begins on a 35-minute 4WD bus in the high country before you can even get to your bungy site. Once there, your cable car will take you over 130 metres into the sky, where you'll harness in and prepare for your heart-pounding adventure. From there, you'll experience an 8.5-second drop over the raging waters of the Nevis River. Think you can handle it?

View from 'The Ledge', Queenstown

The Most Scenic Bungy Jump: The Ledge

Located in Queenstown, The Ledge Bungy Jump offers some of the most scenic views in New Zealand. Also known as the "Freestyle Bungy", this jump is located over 400 metres above Queenstown at what is known as "Bob's Peak". Once at the top, you will have panoramic views of the city below, Lake Wakatipu, and all of the surrounding mountains. There are few views in Queenstown as spectacular as this one.

Combine the view with the fact that this is a freestyle bungy (where your feet can be free), and the Ledge easily lands itself on our top 4 list.

Kawarau Bridge, Queenstown

The Oldest Bungy Jump: Kawarau Gorge Suspension Bridge

Did you know that bungy jumping was actually invented in New Zealand? Yep! Just 25 minutes east of Queenstown is where it all began. On April 1st, 1979, a thrill-seeking man by the name of A.J. Hackett made the very first bungy jump right off the Kawarau Gorge Suspension Bridge - And you can still make the same jump today!

It might not be the most thrilling jump in all of New Zealand, but it's the oldest jump in the world. So if you want to pay tribute to A.J. Hackett, take the leap off of the world's very first bungy jumping bridge just east of Queenstown!

Velocity Valley, Rotorua

The Easiest Bungy Jump: Velocity Valley

Okay, so it's not your typical bungy jump - you aren't jumping off of bridges or over raging waters, but if you're looking for a way to ease yourself into the sport, Rotorua Adventure Park may be an excellent place to start. There’s nothing like a 43 metre / 141 feet free-fall hurling you towards the ground at 60kph to make you feel alive. This is a less extreme bungy jump that is great for beginners. And who knows, maybe you'll be ready for the Nevis River next?

Summary:

Of course, these are just a few of the many places that you can Bungee Jump in beautiful New Zealand. And maybe when you’re done bungee jumping you’ll give skydiving a shot?
