FAQ’s

We have gathered answers to the questions people ask us most often, covering everything from our tours and booking process to what you can expect along the way.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept international bank transfers and all major credit cards. Some credit cards may attract a small processing fee. All prices are quoted in New Zealand dollars unless otherwise stated.

What level of activity can I expect?

The activity level of your itinerary is flexible and tailored to you. You decide how relaxed or adventurous your days feel, and we plan accordingly so that every moment remains enjoyable, comfortable, and memorable.

Do I need a visa to visit New Zealand?

That depends on your nationality. Many visitors can enter visa-free or by applying for an NZeTA (New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority) before travel. We’ll happily guide you to the right resources when you’re getting ready for your trip.

What is your cancellation policy?

Every Bespoke Kiwi journey involves bookings with hand-picked hotels, lodges, and activity providers, many of whom are small and exclusive, we’re bound by their cancellation terms too. This helps protect both our guests and our partners. Your deposit is non-refundable, and the balance is due 30 days before travel. If you cancel after full payment, we’ll refund 50 percent of the total cost for cancellations made more than 14 days before your arrival. Within 14 days of travel, or once your tour has started, we’re unable to offer refunds. We appreciate your understanding that many of the special places we book hold limited space and turn away other travellers once your reservation is confirmed.

Can you help with flights or travel insurance?

We don’t book international flights or travel insurance directly, but we’ll absolutely help you plan around them. We can recommend the best cities to fly into and out of and make sure your itinerary lines up smoothly with your connections. We always suggest arranging comprehensive travel insurance before you leave home, it’s one of those things you hope you won’t need but are always glad to have.

When is the best time to visit New Zealand?

Every season has its own charm, so it depends on what kind of experience you’re after. Summer (December to February) brings long, sunny days and a buzz of energy across the country. Autumn (March to May) offers crisp air and golden landscapes. Winter (June to August) is perfect for mountain views, cosy lodges, and fireside vinos at our favourite vineyards. Spring (September to November) bursts with wildflowers and lupins in bloom. There’s really no wrong time to visit; just different shades of magic.

What happens if the weather isn’t great?

New Zealand’s weather can be full of surprises, and that’s part of what makes it such an incredible place to travel. If bad weather affects one of your planned activities, we’ll reshuffle things and offer a good alternative so you don’t miss out. If something can’t go ahead safely, we’ll refund that part of your trip. You’ll always have options, and we’ll make sure the experience still feels special; rain or shine.

How far in advance should I book my tour?

We suggest booking at least 6 to 12 months ahead, especially if you’re planning to visit between December and March. That’s peak season in New Zealand, and many of the lodges and experiences we use are small and book out early.

What meals are provided on the tours?

That’s really up to you. Most of our guests choose to include breakfast each day, either at their accommodation or at one of our favourite local cafés we’ve discovered around the country.Lunches and dinners are usually left flexible so you can eat where and when you like, but your guide will happily make reservations and share their favourite local spots. On some itineraries, we’ll pre-book special dining experiences that capture the flavour and creativity of New Zealand cuisine.

What kind of vehicle will we travel in?

You’ll travel in one of our luxury Mercedes-Benz vehicles, chosen to match your group size. Most guests travel in either a V-Class or a Sprinter. They’re modern, spacious, and ideal for taking in the scenery as you travel between regions. We keep our vehicles in excellent condition and equip them for both comfort and style, so getting from one beautiful place to the next is all part of the experience.

Do you offer private or small group tours?

Every Bespoke Kiwi journey is private and completely tailored to you. That means your guide, your vehicle, and your itinerary are just for you and your group; no fixed timetables, no big buses, and no strangers tagging along. Travel at your own pace, with the freedom to stop where the views are best and take your time.
