And as exciting as packing can be, it can be stressful too. What do you need? Did you forget anything? What are the essentials? Well, the essentials can be different depending on where you're travelling to. So to ease your stress, we've made a quick list of must-haves for your trip to New Zealand.

A High-Quality Backpack

Okay, so not everyone will need a backpack when they travel to New Zealand, but it's always a good idea to take one along. A backpack is a great place to store all your essentials - snacks, drinks, cash - anything you might want to take along on a day trip. Of course, backpacking and hiking through New Zealand are popular activities, and if you're going to do this, the backpack becomes a necessity.

Hiking Shoes

Most people who head to New Zealand take at least one hike (it's a must-do). And if hiking is on your itinerary, then hiking shoes should be on your packing list. Even if you're not planning an elaborate hike, you're going to want to do some walking to see the sights, so a good pair of shoes is a necessity.

Layers of clothing

The weather in New Zealand is unpredictable, so be prepared to pack layers. You should have undershirts, t-shirts, long sleeve shirts, and sweaters. In addition, it's not a bad idea to pack shorts and long pants, sandals and full-toed shoes. The more options you have here in New Zealand, the more prepared you will be for whatever Mother Nature throws your way.

Sunscreen, Water Bottle & Mosquito Repellent

The sun in New Zealand can be intense - and so can the UV rays. Regardless of what season you're visiting, sunscreen should always be on your list. Wherever your adventures in New Zealand take you, you don't want to be without water. So pack a water bottle to stay hydrated.

Many people travel to New Zealand for the water - and so do the bugs. New Zealand is full of lakes, oceans, and rivers, and these are some of the most common tourist destinations. But even if you go to the waters alone, you won't be alone. Bugs love New Zealand, and they don't discriminate against tourists. Be sure to pack your bug spray, preferably a spray that contains DEET to save yourself from annoying bug bites.

Travel Adaptor

There's nothing worse than heading to a new country just to realise that you can't charge any of your electronics. So to avoid spending your week without your phone or laptop, make sure you bring an adaptor. New Zealand operates on a 230V supply voltage and 50Hz. You can buy adaptors on Amazon.

Swimwear

In case you didn't know, we're talking about your swimsuit! Whether you're visiting the beach, staying at a resort, or relaxing in one of New Zealand's natural hot pools, a swimsuit (or two) is a must!

There are so many amazing and beautiful things to see in New Zealand, and you won't want to miss out on capturing the memories - so don't forget to pack your camera!

Summary:

Of course, you won't want to forget your essentials either - your passport, cash, your drivers licence, medication, your toiletries, your visa, and any essential paperwork that you need!
